What to do after a rideshare accident in California

Make sure everyone is safe and call 911
Whether you were the passenger, another driver, or on foot, get out of traffic first. Ask the rideshare driver to stay at the scene, since their status in the app at the time of the crash matters later.
Screenshot the trip in the app
Before the ride disappears from your history, capture the trip details: driver name, vehicle, route, pickup and drop-off times, and the fare. If you were not the passenger, note the rideshare decal and the license plate instead.
Ask for a police report
Tell the officer that a rideshare vehicle was involved and, if you know it, whether the driver had a passenger or was between rides. Get the report number before you leave.
Photograph the vehicles and exchange information
Photograph every vehicle, the plates, and the scene, and get the driver's personal insurance details along with the name of the rideshare company. Collect witness contact information while people are still there.
See a doctor within days
